That's right. I read Robinson Caruso in college and Day By Day Armageddon is like an awesome modern zombie twist on the classic!!! Obviously its hard not to love this book. Everybody with taste for the apocalypse thinks Day By Day has what it takes, and they're right. Something in this bare bones narrative is fascinating. You can't look away! The zombies are especially well described, which is why I think this book really makes an impression. I absolutely love it that these stupid, smelly, unstoppable hulks are attracted to each other because of their own movements and groaning, which creates marching bands of the undead. Freaky! Original! Awesome!!! The hero is great with his lists and his preparations and his courage. If I had one complaint, it's there is almost zero characterization. I mean, even Robinson Caruso grew a little bit, learning to be an actual friend to his big dumb native sidekick Friday. Maybe our hero in Day By Day grew even more determined to survive. It doesn't matter! I can't wait for the sequel.
